Perfect Print Design

In our world of reader devices, smart phones and personal computers, it's perhaps easy to forget a time when print media shared the limelight only with the radio and television. It's probably just as easy to dismiss the need for printed material, given the ubiquitous use of digital media. In truth, print is and always will be a strong method of graphic communication, whether the intended product is a book, magazine, brochure, poster or product box.

Whether your print project is a book cover, brochure or full-page ad, the designer's knowledge of today's printing technologies and methods, as well as keen design expertise, is vital. What are the best font formats to use? CMYK, RGB, Pantone or grayscale? InDesign or QuarkXPress? Vector or bitmapped? 300PPI or 1200PPI? With bleeds or without? What is the dot gain? What are the gutter, hinge, fold or wrap-around measurements? Will that hairline used as part of a layout feature translate well to print? All these questions and more are considered by the competent designer on top of executing a beautiful and effective graphic layout that speaks clearly to your audience.

With twenty collective years of experience in the publishing trade and over a decade of graphic design under my belt, I'm keen to both the technical and aesthetic aspects of print design, ensuring your print project gets done right without a headache.
